Today we drove back to Santa Barbara. On the way we stopped on Stage Coach Road
and visited Cold Spring Tavern. This
was an old stagecoach stop. This place has dishes featuring exotic game which at times have included bear, kangaroo, and lion. Jim had a
bowl of chili and I had a piece of rum walnut chocolate chip pie with whipped
cream and coffee. Then we went into
Santa Barbara and walked out on Stearns Wharf.
There are quite a few breweries in Santa Barbara and we visited Union Brewing (Firestone now brews for
them), Santa Barbara Brewing, The Brew House, and Telegraph Brewing. Next door to Santa Barbara Brewing was Mac’s
Fish and Chips which was featured on Diners Drive Ins and Dives (DDD). We didn’t eat here because I had another one
in mind, so we drove to Norton’s Deli and had a PLT (pastrami, lettuce and
tomato) and a pastrami hot dog. This was
a hotdog with pastrami, sauerkraut and cheese. We walked by what is believed to be the country's largest Moreton Bay fig tree which dates back to 1876. Then we drove to Hollister Brewing in Goleta before heading back to the
Casita.
