8/22/13 - Monument Valley, AZ

We left camp this morning and drove to Monument Valley.  This is land owned by the Navajo -- it is not a national park.  Many John Ford westerns starring John Wayne were filmed here.  There is a 17 mile loop road you can drive or you can take a tour in a jeep.  The last time we were here we drove the one way loop road with the 4-wheel drive Pathfinder.  This time we only drove the 4 mile two way road to John Ford point.  The road was really, really rough.  At John Ford point we bought some fry bread and put honey on it.  Then we drove back to the Casita and hooked up to drive to Flagstaff.

We got a site at the Coconino County Park – Fort Tuthill campground.  Then we drove to Mother Road Brewing.  We talked to the brewers and took a picture.  Urs Riner was the head brewer and Shawn MacKenzie was the assistant brewer.  Urs knew about the Foam Rangers and the Dixie Cup.  He entered a beer under his homebrew club's name and won a medal.  We left them two cans of Karbach Saison to drink.  Then we walked to Beaver Street Brewing.  We stopped here last time we were in town.  I cooked yellow curry chicken for supper.
