9/5/13 - Oklahoma City, OK

We drove to Oklahoma City today.  On the way we stopped in Shamrock, Texas.  They have a piece of the Blarney Stone from Ireland in a park.  Jim pretended to kiss it.  We have been to Ireland and did kiss the Blarney Stone there.  You have to lean backward, upside down, extended out over the edge of the castle and a person holds your feet.  It’s really scary.  We also stopped at an old Conoco Station and the attached U Drop Inn.  This gas station was the inspiration for the one in the Disney movie “Cars”.  It is on Route 66 through Shamrock.  We got an RV site on Route 66 in Edmond, Oklahoma on Lake Arcadia in Central State Park.  We got the only site available.  After unhooking we went to Kim & Steve’s house in Oklahoma City.  We took some beers with us and they have a fridge full in the garage.  Kim and Steve fed us sour cream enchiladas, beans and rice.  It was very good and I didn’t have to cook tonight!  We watched the Denver – Baltimore football game until half time and then left.
