7/1/13 - Willcox, AZ

We only got a sprinkle of rain last night but the wind was really high.  A little after midnight the wind started blowing things around and I went outside to put up our chairs.  The metal side table had blown out of our campsite.  The wind was really shaking the Casita.  I got scared.  The state park is shutting down the bathroom on July 6th to build a new one and they had placed two port-o-toilets in the campground to be used.  Both of them were blown over (thank goodness they were empty.)  Toilet paper was flapping in the wind.

We left camp and stopped in Deming at the Luna Mimbres Museum.  This is a museum that has all of the artifacts in it donated to them.  It is a large museum and is really fantastic.  If you get a chance to come through Deming, this is worth stopping at.  It is free to visit but donations are accepted.

We had a green chili cheeseburger at Blake’s Lottaburger before leaving Deming.  We drove to Willcox, Arizona and got an RV site.  Then we drove to Chiricahua National Monument about an hour drive from Willcox.  This place has some really meat volcanic rock formations.  After we got back, we went to check in at the RV park office.  The lady had been out for a couple of hours and we just picked a spot and unhooked to leave for Chiricahua.  The lady sell pies so Jim got a piece of her peach pie.  Tomorrow we have free coffee and waffles for breakfast.

After dinner we sat outside for a while and then went next door to the big rig from California and talked to them for a long time.  We all watched the lightning show to the west of us.
