8/6/13 - Inyo National Forest, Oh! Ridge Campground, CA

We got up at 5:30 this morning to get an early start to drive back into Yosemite.  We had to drive up the same road that we drove down two days ago.  We took lots of stuff out of the Silverado and left it in the Casita and the bear proof storage container at camp.  First we drove to Glacier Point.  We didn’t get to drive this in 2007 when we were here because the road was closed.  The views here of Half Dome are really great.  You can look down to Yosemite Valley also.  There was a lot of smoke in the air from a nearby forest fire.  After leaving Glacier Point we drove to Yosemite Valley.  We went to the visitor’s center and I mailed postcards.  We stopped at Sentinel Bridge and looked at the Merced River and Half Dome.  On the way out of Yosemite Valley we stopped to view El Capitan.  Then we drove back down Tioga Road and down the 8 percent grade again.  This time the drive was much easier without the Casita and all the stuff we left at camp.  The Silverado actually got 19 miles per gallon today!  When we got back, Jim started the generator updated the blog and I fixed supper.  We got back to camp at 6:30.
